Back in May, Montage of Heck made its HBO debut, and played in limited theaters worldwide. The film is set to return to the big screen once again on August 7. According to NME, audiences planning to attend one of the screenings of the re-released film will be in for a special treat—a previously unheard song from Kurt Cobain.
News about an unreleased song from Cobain is exciting enough, but the film’s director, Brett Morgen added to the excitement by revealing that the song features Cobain singing in falsetto. The song is believed to recorded around 1991 but that’s about all the details Morgen was willing to reveal. The director would not share during which scene exactly the new song would be featured, because he doesn’t “want to get people out there bootlegging it on their cell phones.”
Earlier this year, Rolling Stone referred to Montage of Heck as “the most intimate rock doc ever.” But as much as the public and the fans want to absorb every little detail about Kurt Cobain’s life and death, there are still a few elements that remain under wraps. According to the Seattle Times, Courtney Love and Frances Bean Cobain have asked a Seattle judge to keep the graphic photos of Cobain’s death private.
Both Courtney and Frances explained to the judge in separate statements that these gruesome images would cause them more pain then they have already felt. Although a lawsuit claimed that these photos of Cobain could prove that he was in fact murdered, police reviewed these same photos last year and concluded that no new evidence could be drawn from them.
