As Oakland rapper and producer Elujay continues to prepare for the release of his upcoming project Jentrify—which he reveals will focus on the gentrification of his city, family issues, and morehe returns today with another new single titled “Onetime!” Earlier this year we heard him share “Soul Food,”“Flagrant,” and “We Don’t Mind.” So far, each of Elujay’s releases have remained in the same vein of cool, laid-back tracks that work to match his own style of delivery.

The latest single “Onetime!” picks up the energy just enough to fit in a relaxed two-step. The new track features production from Wax Roof, Kevchoice, DrewBanga, and Elujay himself. He explains that the inspiration for his new single came from his own surroundings, as well as a classic gospel record titled “We’re Blessed” by Fred Hammond. “I had Kev replay the keys and Wax Roof do the bass,” Elujay tells us. “I did the drum programming.”

Similar to this new single, the rest of his upcoming Jentrify project is the result of teamwork between him and various producers and singers. “On the project there's heavy collaborative songs I've done with multiple producers and singers,” Eljuy says. “I had singing and the Rhodes chords played in almost every song, which gave it a cohesive neo soul-themed project.”
