Jalen Santoy is a rapper representing Charlotte, North Carolina. As he prepares for the release of his forthcoming EP Charlie Eastern on November 18, his breakout single "Foreplay" has been working in his favor as a great introduction to the newcomer's talent. Since it's release, the single has continued to gain buzz through Spotify and SoundCloud.

Over a year after it's initial release, Santoy returns this week with the visuals for his lead single. In the Arthur Gallery-directed video, the Charlotte rapper takes time to showcase the ups and downs of difficult relationships. In the lyrics, Santoy's mind gets preoccupied with thoughts of both love and hate for the same person as he battles loneliness.

The jazz and hip-hop fused single creates a mood that blends vulnerability and strength together, a theme that ties into his upcoming EP. The video for "Foreplay," as well as the entire EP, are inspired by his late cousin—who he lost to police brutality. "Charlie Eastern represents birth, foundation, and the willingness to show transparency in difficult situations," Santoy explains. This new video puts the Charlotte rapper's artistry on full display, and gives us a preview of what's to come.
