Idris Elba Has A New Collaboration With Fatboy Slim

Idris Elba isn't finished showing off his musical skills.

Idris Elba has been more frequent appearances in the music scene lately. In the last year we heard him spit a few bars on the remix of Skepta’s “Shutdown,” lend his vocals to Fatboy Slim and Jerome Robins’ “Uptown Funk” remix, and deliver a haunting narration over Macklemore & Ryan Lewis’ latest single “Dance Off.” Elba’s musical journey has been as versatile as his acting career, and it looks like he’s ready to release more.

Norman Cook, the DJ otherwise known as Fatboy Slim, told NME that he had been working with Elba on music. He revealed that a new collaboration between the two is set to premiere alongside Elba’s forthcoming film Bastille Day. Though with Elba’s transformative style, it’s hard to determine what it may sound like.

“I don’t know if it’s under wraps so I don’t want to get in trouble by saying too much,” Cook explained. “It’s called Bastille Day, and we’ve written a song together, and Idris sings on it which is fun.” Elba’s film Bastille Day is set to hit theaters later this month, so their collaboration should presumably surface much sooner than later.
