Minneapolis rapper Finding Novyon has been on our radar since he released his breakout single “Lots” in 2015 alongside his longtime friend and fellow Minnesota representative Allan Kingdom. In the time since then, Novyon has shared multiple projects—including #TheFoodNetwork, Super Saiyan, Super Saiyan 2, and Believe in MPLS, a joint project with J. KELR of Blended Babies

Everything in the last two years has been building up to this moment. This June, Finding Novyon will finally be releasing his debut album That’s My Dawg via Allan Kingdom’s own imprint, So Cold Records. Ahead of his debut album’s release, Novyon returns today with “Never Too High”—his first release of the year and first single from his album—featuring fellow Minneapolis artist P.O.S..

This new single places Novyon over production from up and coming producer duo Girard Hennepin (EQtheSound & BLXCKonBLXCK) that sounds rather intergalactic as it simultaneously layers dreamy chords and synths over heavy basslines. It also serves as a preview to the rest of the album as the duo entirely produced the full project. For “Never Too High,” Novyon reflects on where music has taken him so far.

“I just felt like everything I had put out before this didn't really tell a good story about who I am, what I actually felt, and went through to get to where I am now,” Novyon tells us. “Reflecting on how my life has changed over the past two years—going from a full time job, to sharing stages with my idols, and working with artists—compelled me to want to tell more of my story in detail.”
