This year is the 20th anniversary of the legendary Mos Def and Talib Kweli are Blackstar album, and it sounds as if we might be getting new Black Star music sooner rather than later. Yasiin Bey made a surprise appearance during a Madlib DJ set in Denver, Colorado last night (December 10) and teased new Madlib, Talib Kweli, and Yasiin Bey music for this year.

“New Black Star with Madlib, Talib Kweli, Yasiin, coming soon!” Bey said. “All Madlib, all day. 2018, Madlib, Black Star. Madlib Black Star.” Reddit user mellowtooth was there and recorded some of the set, including Bey's big announcement which you can hear below. Mellowtooth also wrote the following:

"I just got back from a Madlib DJ set in Denver, and Yasiin Bey made a surprise appearance, and announced a Blackstar & Madlib album dropping in 2018 - he even mentioned it several times. Yasiin showed up after performing elsewhere in Denver with Talib Kweli the same night. For anyone curious about the show itself, it had some of the best vibes i've experienced at a show - basically a giant smoke session with Madlib and Yasiin Bey, freestyling beats and some casual rhymes."

Listen to the announcement below and see some pictures from the show via Reddit here. Talib Kweli and Yasiin Bey certainly seem to be gearing up for something big in 2018—at the end of January Kweli shared a photo on Instagram with Yasiin, Kanye West, and Dave Chapelle with the caption "2018 is looking good..."
