It's been a while since we last heard from George Lewis Jr. of Twin Shadow, who released his most recent album, Eclipse, in early 2015 followed shortly after by the Night Rally mixtape. During this time him, his band, and his crew were involved in a tour bus crash. But now he's back, following a tour that saw him coping with the aftereffects of reconstructive surgery on his hand. Today, he's announced the follow-up to Eclipse.

"Sometimes I feel like I have to take a fall to essentially get to the next phase of my life," Lewis says of his upcoming album Caer in a statement. "It's happened over and over. i've been through so many musical phases and through so many relationships with friends and lovers. I always feel like I'm standing on the edge of a cliff, looking down and thinking, 'This is the only way forward: onto the next thing.' It's sort of destructive, but I guess I thrive on rebirth."

To coincide with the announcement of Caer, he's shared two tracks from the upcoming album, and the first of which certainly echoes his statements. The video for "Little Woman" is a bare and striking affair, matching the minimal but grandiose feel of the track itself. It's a bold reinvention of his sound, but retains the feel of his previous output all the same. The other single he's sharing today, "Saturdays," features Haim.

"Saturdays" is definitely the more pop-oriented of the two tracks, but it's just as interesting. It's a fun, bouncy track that contrasts with the very-current feel of "Little Woman," which seems to address a lot of the issues facing America today. He says in the statement that Caer is a sister record of sorts to his debut album Forget, which definitely has us excited to hear more. Caer is expected to release April 27 via Reprise.
