It's been more than two years since Grimes' auteur masterpiece Art Angel was released, but the talented singer-producer recently confirmed that she's got a new album on the horizon for 2018.
actually it's 2012 so 6 yrs and a nu one out this year so 3 albums in 6 years is not a bad level of productivity ... 7 years i'd be judging myself a bit— Grimes (@Grimezsz) February 1, 2018
She was responding to a tweet about her 2012 record, Visions, which she recorded over three weeks using GarageBand. In April 2016, Grimes said she was "halfway done with another record" in an interview with Rolling Stone, though right now it's unclear how much of that material will be featured on this upcoming project.
Grimes, who produces and engineers her own music, has been vocal about how difficult it can be to break into the industry as a female producer. Her return comes at a time when women are still massively underrepresented in the pop world, particularly behind the boards, as noted by a study from the USC Annenberg Inclusion Initiative.
To tide you over until her new record, Grimes recently made public a handful of her personal Spotify playlists. Check out the news of Grimes' upcoming release and read about nine other artists we want to resurface in 2018.
