Bon Iver performed a show in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on Saturday night to celebrate the 10th anniversary of For Emma Forever Ago, the album that launched Justin Vernon to international acclaim. The record was initially self-released in July 2007 but later saw a wider release on the label Jagjaguwar in February 2008.
In the much-repeated For Emma origin story, Vernon wrote the album in a remote hunting cabin in Wisconsin between 2006 and 2007, and now fans have another song from that time to enjoy. During the recent anniversary show, Vernon and his band played a song that he describes as being "written in the same time" as For Emma. Earlier this year, Justin Vernon released a song with Mouse on Mars called "Dimensional People Part III." He also joined the Grammy conversation with his thoughts on Bruno Mars winning so many awards.
