Sampha and Syd on the same song? At this point, Richard Russell is just showing off.
The XL Recordings label head has been uniting incredible musicians at his London studio for his collaborative artist project Everything Is Recorded, and the latest manages to blend the worlds of Sampha and Syd over gorgeous, warm instrumentation.
The accompanying video also gives Russell a chance to show off all of his gear (and a collection of toy birds and an incense-burning buddha). Between this, and some of the other Everything Is Recorded collaborations that Russell has been sharing lately, it's clear that something magical is happening in that studio right now.
A press release explains, "This studio has become a creative second home for a revolving cast of vocalists and musicians who pass through to write, record and share ideas, mixing traditional recording sessions with extended, uninhibited live jams."
