Inspired by the fantasy and sci-fi media he grew up on, "Baptized" started as an extended reference to 'Game of Thrones'.

Van Buren

As much as South Florida is known for its vibrant rap scene, it's not often that you hear about a rapper from Bradenton. The relatively small city on the South West coast of Florida is the home of Van Buren, who recently resurfaced to take music a little more seriously. After dropping a project all the way back in 2014, he's back and ready to take things a bit further than he ever got before.

Even though he's about three hours removed from the scene in and around Miami, he would fit in were it not for his choice in production. Having worked with P&P favorite Blank Body, he's providing something a little more strange and a little less loud. Atop sci-fi production, he rap-sings in a way that sounds sunny and inspired. Inspired to write something that acts as an extended reference to Game of Thrones, he's got his best track yet with "Baptized."

"I grew up writing poems as a kid and that transitioned into rapping and recording song," he told us over email. " I always kept to myself in my younger days and was super into fantasy and sci-fi type of stuff instead of sports, so this song kind of stems from that." Listen to "Baptized" below, and look out for more from Van Buren soon.
