The American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers (ASCAP) announced that there are plans to honor Notorious B.I.G. at the 30th Annual Rhytym and Soul Music Awards on June 22.

The Brooklyn native is set to receive theFounders Award for his contributions to music and being one of the most pioneers of his genre. This is ASCAP's most prestigious award and will have B.I.G. joining the likes of fellow hip-hop legends Dr. Dre, Puff Daddy, and Jermaine Dupri.

ASCAP President Paul Williams spoke on the decision, stating, "Biggie was a legend in his own time and his legacy lives on through his music. Like all songwriters, he was a master storyteller, but it was the realism in his rhymes that captured so many."

Biggie's mother Violetta Wallace, widow Faith Evans, his former managers, and consultants Wayne Barrow and Mark Pitts will all be in attendance to accept the award on the late great MC's behalf.
