For the last two years, Colombian-born singer Kali Uchis has been preparing for the release of her debut album. In 2015, the singer collaborated with artists like Tyler, the Creator, BadBadNotGood, Kaytranada, Steve Lacy, and more. She offered a solid introduction to her sound with her Por Vida EP. Now she's finally ready to put out her first full-length album.

Before releasing too many details about her debut album, Kali Uchis shared her first single "Tyrant" alongside rising London-based singer Jorja Smith. Their new collaboration is a mid-tempo track is a subtle bounce that creates a steady groove. Smith enters at the tail-end of this feel-good with her soulful vocals to balance the breathiness of Kali's own voice. Together they create a lovely juxtaposition that works perfectly.

In a short interview with Zane Lowe earlier today, Kali revealed some other artist who helped contribute to her forthcoming album like Tame Impala's Kevin Parker, Damon Albarn of Gorillaz, and even Bootsy Collins. She explained that her pairing with Collins is all thanks to the internet. After being asked who she would want to work with if she could choose anyone, Kali choose Collins. "All of a sudden, like a week or so later, he follows me on Twitter and DMs me like, 'Hey I heard you want to work with me, let's do something!'"
