vōx keeps getting better and better. Her voice has never been in question, but her production and collaboration choices are just as impressive, whether she's incorporating booming electronics or hauntingly simple arrangements.

On the way is a new EP, and "I Was Born" is our first taste, a gorgeous song built almost entirely from layers of vocals. "It is the story of personal rebirth," vōx explains. "It's naked. It's vulnerable. Leaving your past behind to serve a bigger purpose can be painful or lonely. But the most powerful thing you can do is change."

Look out for vōx's new EP and stay tuned for more exciting announcements from the Los Angeles-based artist coming soon.

What have you been up to since we last heard from you with the incredible cover of Kendrick's "i"?

I had to disappear for a while to find my voice, to recognize the stories I wanted to tell. I've been working on the upcoming EP since I finished "i." I've also been perfecting my live performance before I bring it to a wider audience.

Tell us about "I Was Born" and what it means to you.

"I Was Born" is the story of personal rebirth. It's naked. It's vulnerable. Leaving your past behind to serve a bigger purpose can be painful or lonely. But the most powerful thing you can do is change.

What can you tell us about the upcoming EP?

It's more vōx than ever. I had a much heavier hand in co-production. It's very vocal heavy, layered harmonies and vocoder. Even though I sometimes write on a piano, voice is my chosen instrument. It's my true expression. "I Was Born" is the title track, and it really encapsulates the emotions on the EP.

Any other plans for 2017?

Many, many plans and secrets. I can't wait to share.
