In November, The xx began announcing their European tour dates in a rather unorthodox way. Rather than send out a press release with their forthcoming tour dates, the group secretly sent free tickets to loyal fans for various tour dates. The shocked fans then took to social media to share the news of their unexpected mail, thus making the tour announcement for The xx.
This strategy worked out well the first time around, and The xx decided to give it a try once again for the holiday season. A new set of fans recently started receiving free tickets to upcoming North American tour dates. Some fans even got an extra treat with a gifted 7" record of their recent single "On Hold."
The xx's new album I See You is due out on January 13. Stay tuned to their website for information on the full list of upcoming tour dates.
