Watch J. Cole's Surprise 'Eyez' Documentary

Go behind closed doors with J. Cole before he releases a new album next week.

Thursday morning, it was revealed that J. Cole would be dropping a new album next week (December 9). Now, he's shared a 40-minute documentary that opens the doors to his studio and catches us up on what the Fayetteville rapper has been up to since the release of 2014's Forest Hills Drive.

"You get to this level of [your] career in terms of platform... Who's to say the next one—the next one might go down. Or it could go up," he says at one point, commenting on the difficult position he finds himself in as he attempts to follow up his most successful album to date. "You're never guaranteed to be this high again. So while I'm here, let me use this opportunity to say the realest shit I've ever said."

He also comments on his reserved, music-centric way of life, adding, "I'm living a life that's very detached. I'm not on social media, I'm not in the news, I don't click the headlines. It's just family and fuckin' music."
