Drake Has iTunes' Best-Selling Album and Single of 2016

The Canadian rapper has dominated with 'Views' this year.

Drake has had a big year with Views, and now, in addition to receiving Grammy nominations and earning quadruple platinum status, the Associated Press has reported that the Canadian rapper has earned the No. 1 spot on iTunes' best-selling album. "One Dance," which appears on Views, is also the best-selling single of the year.

With Views being the very first album to earn over one billion streams on Apple Music as well, it's no surprise that the album finished ahead of other big 2016 titles like Rihanna's Anti, Adele's 25, Frank Ocean's Blonde, and Justin Bieber's Purpose. As for the singles, "One Dance" is followed closely by Justin Timberlake's "Can't Stop the Feeling," Rihanna's "Work" in Flo Rida's "My House," and Lukas Graham's "7 Years" in fifth.

The compiled numbers is determined by iTunes downloads and streams from Apple Music. Buzzfeed News earlier today that the streaming service had doubled their number of subscribers in the past year, now reaching over 20 million subscribers.

On Monday, the nominations for the 2017 Grammy Awards were announced with Drake receiving seven including Album of the Year. "One Dance" also became the most streamed song in Spotify history, earning him the title of No. 1 Artist on Spotify.
