Beyoncé Has Become the Most-Nominated Woman Artist In Grammy History

She's also the first artist to ever receive nominations across four genres in a single year.

This morning, the nominees for the 2017 Grammy Awards were announced. Nominated for nine awards across nine categories, Beyoncé doesn't only lead the pack, but she's also officially become the woman artist with the most Grammy nominations of all time.

According to The FADER, those nine nominations, which include Record of the Year, Song of the Year, and Album of the Year, have brought Beyoncé up to 62 nominations in total throughout the span of her career.

Beyoncé also holds the record of woman artist who was awarded with the most Grammys in a single night alongside Adele, having received six in 2010 and Adele tying in 2012. If Beyoncé wins just eight out of the nine awards she's been nominated for, she'll also become the record holder for most Grammy wins for a woman. Currently, Alison Krauss holds this title with 27 awards.

With these nine nominations, Beyoncé is also the first artist to have nominations across four genres in the same year. Complex spoke the Recording Academy’s Vice President of Awards Bill Freimuth, who said: "You’ve had other artists in the past, say Michael Jackson maybe, who have been nominated in that many different fields, but not in the same year and on the same album [...] This is a first timer for us and personally I think it's appropriate and pretty cool."

Drake, Rihanna, and Kanye West are tied with eight 2017 Grammy Award nominations each, and Chance The Rapper has earned six nominations, including Best New Artist.

The 59th Grammy Awards will air on Sunday, February 12, 2017 at 8pm EST on CBS. Take a look at the entire list of nominees here.
