Killer Mike has always made his voice and opinions heard in regards to the recent Presidential election. Although his support initially backed Bernie Sanders, he soon focused his energy on simply encouraging younger generations to exercise their right to vote—making sure to emphasis the importance of local elections.
Now that Election Day is officially over, and the results are finally in. As millions of Americans began to wake up to the news of Donald Trump being the next President of the United States, Killer Mike stopped by talk show The Real to discuss his thoughts on the results.
Trying his best to articulate this morning's wave of disbelief into words, Killer Mike explained that the results came due to the fact that people are mad. "I knew that people were mad enough to do things that I hadn't expected them to do," he explained. "I saw people who looked like me and you, say they were voting Trump, and that scared me. That scared me a lot." Though he reiterated that he did not support Hillary Clinton, he admitted that he thought she would win over Trump.
He went on to break down why he thinks this election played out the way it did. "People who look like all the people on this panel–black, brown, and all types of hues in between–I think that we have been used by a party to the liberal side that once enacted, and once in office, has not enacted policy that was reflective of stuff that would bring our communities up, so I think poor people got angry, and I think that there just happen to be, by this country, more poor angry white people."
