Gorillaz Hype New Album With 'The Book of Noodle' Story on Instagram

The band's fourth album is expected to come out early 2017.

It's been a rough go for Noodle, the 13-year-old cartoon bassist of Gorillaz, over the past few years. She was lost and declared dead following a helicopter attack in the video for "El Manana," from 2005'sĀ Demon Days. Then she was replaced by a cyborg forĀ Plastic Beach, but was found alive in the video for the album's title track.

As the band gears up for a new album coming out early 2017, they've decided to regale us with the tale of what happened to Noodle, via a multimedia story titledĀ The Book of Noodle, which lives on the group's Instagram account.Ā We won't ruin the fun and spoil too much of it here, but essentially, the story goes that Noodle was headed toĀ Murdoc's Plastic Beach hideaway in the ā€œPlastic Beachā€ video, and yada yada yada, some adventure followed, like Noodle's stint as a pearl diver's apprentice in Japan.
