The Amsterdam-based band comes out of the gates strong.

Dutch band Avi On Fire's Facebook bio reads: "Hits. Alleen maar hits. Van die lekkere." I don't speak Dutch, but Google Translate tells me that means: "Hits. Only hits. Of those yummy." I don't know about the "of those yummy" part, but so far the rest checks out.

Avi On Fire's debut single is called "Pearls," and it's a huge piece of chorus-centric indie pop reminiscent of bands like Grizzly Bear and Passion Pit in their heyday. It's a format that has been all but abandoned in favor of sleek electronic, minimal pop, and and hip-hop influence, but "Pearls" is proof that a big, hummable slice of indie pop can still hit the spot. Of those yummy, indeed.
