Danish-born and now London based Jacob Hammershøj writes, produces, and performs music as Mont Jake. You might not recognize the name yet, but the rising artist has already collaborated with Wu-Tang's Masta Killa and Chicago future superstar Noname on his last EP, Shadow.

It's clear that Mont Jake knows how to pick good collaborators and has wide-ranging musical taste, and that's evident again on new single "Pearly Cloud." This time, he links up with gruff-voiced dancehall artist Assassin (Kanye West's "I'm In It," Kendrick Lamar's "The Blacker The Berry") and 16-year-old London vocalist Bryn The First, who makes her debut on the song.

"I wanted a big contrast between all the voices on the song, that’s why I chose to get two very different collaborators involved," Mont Jake explains. "The song has a repetitive structure but the unique voices make every section seem different even though the beat itself doesn’t change much. I also wanted to surprise people and do something unexpected. The change from my voice to Assassin’s voice, for example, is such a transformation. It really surprises the shit out of people. And I love when music is unpredictable and astonishing."

Mont Jake says "Pearly Cloud" is "about "having an addiction, you can’t get rid of. It could be anything from a drug, love or a fantasy." Listen to the new track, premiering below.
