As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, Jay Z has signed a new two-year film and television production deal with The Weinstein Company. The film juggernaut, responsible for a large number of critical and commercial successes, will get first-look options with jay Z to produce projects for both television and film, scripted and unscripted. There are already a number of projects in development under this deal, and they'll be announced over the next few weeks.

"I'm excited to tell stories from real-life prophets who, through their struggles, have changed the world for the better and others whose stories are filled with fantasy and delight," said Jay Z in a statement about the new deal.  "Harvey and David [Weinstein] are visionaries, both of whom have done this time and time again. I'm already passionate about what we currently have in the pipeline, and I'm looking forward to discovering others."

Harvey Weinstein said of the newly inked partnership, “Having known Jay on a personal level for many years, we are thrilled by the opportunity to expand our relationship." He continued, "Jay's ability to influence entertainment and pop culture has gone well beyond music for many years. He approaches every aspect of his career with both determination and effortlessness, making him one of the leading power players in entertainment history. We already have some exceptional projects in the works and are excited to see what more is to come."

It remains to be seen what projects Jay Z has been working on with The Weinstein Company, but it sounds like we won't have to wait too long to find out.
