Some of the music on KAMAU's A Gorgeous Fortune EP has a fun, lighthearted feel to it, but there's a message in everything. It's not always so plainly stated, but on "PohLease," it's impossible to miss. You can hear it in the lyrics, in the closing moments when KAMAU reads the names of police brutality victims, and the desperation in his voice when he delivers lines like, "This is how it feels when your skin starts eating you."

The video for "PohLease" is not a veiled artistic statement on police brutality. It is powerfully direct, and it's difficult to watch. It's also important to see, to process, and to think about. Watch it above.
