Best New Mixes Streaming Right Now

1.

The summer is showing no sign of letting up, and neither is the influx of incredible new mixes made available for your streaming pleasure. So as usual, we've sifted through many a mix over the last couple of weeks in order to compile this selection, arguably enjoyed best in proximity to a swimming pool.

With Sassy J's "Summer Squeeze," Seb Wildblood's toasty Coastal mix, DJDS' trip to Tijuana, and Tobacco's wavy "Heatstroker" mix warming our hearts, there's also a mix for those opting to stay indoors on a sunny day by way of DJ Yoda's latest, dedicated to one especially popular Netflix series.

Let's dive in, shall we?

2. DJ Yoda: The Stranger Things Mixtape

As someone who's known for adding his own touches (and scratches) to some of his favourite movies, the fact that DJ Yoda has made a mixtape dedicated to the new Netflix series Stranger Things should not come as much surprise. With a solid soundtrack as is, DJ Yoda does well to combine all the sounds from the show and spin it in his signature style.

So unless you're trapped in another dimension, we invite you to turn this one up to 11.

3. Tom Wienland: BRAZILIAN BOOGIE III; A Rio 2016 Olympics Mixtape

Marking the first for Brazil, and in turn South America, this year's Olympic games have been eagerly anticipated by many. To be specific however, producer and DJ Tom Wienland put together this beauty of a mix to get you in the mood.

"On this mixtape you'll get (almost) strictly vintage wax: samba soul, Brazilian boogie, carioca, old school rap...Although the Rio Olympics 2016 are quite a controversial happening, I wish you all L.O.V.E. Let the games begin!"

Definitely a winner.

4. Beyond The Wizards Sleeve: Mix #189 for Trax Magazine (Live At The Moth Club Pt.1)

This guitar-laden cache of tracks for Trax Magazine comes courtesy of Erol Alkan and Richard Norris aka Beyond The Wizards Sleeve, and showcases a strong selection from around the globe.

Psychedelia, garage rock, punk, funk and more all mixed like magic.

5. Seekae: XLR8R Podcast #450/10 Year Special

Perhaps our favourite of XLR8R's celebratory mixes to mark ten years in the podcast game, this one put together by George Nicholas of Seekae sought to showcase some of his favourite songs, but be warned "..it’s not necessarily for the club." As he explains, "Things are a little more dynamic than usual. I also popped quite a few tracks by Sydney-based/Australian artists in there."

Also including music from Caribou, Mickey Pearce, Pinch, Pangaea and other non-Australians, we recommend you check out the other efforts from DJ Stingray, Tama Sumo, and DJ Nobu just to be sure we made the right call.

6. Tobacco: Heatstroker Mix

Things take a turn for the weird and wonderful with this mix, as the masked man known as Tobacco goes on a voyage brimming with betamax vibes.

"This is the only summer mix you’ll ever need. Only the best up’ere. I listen to this while I sun worship, fuckface. Straight from the den of the medium kahuna."

7. DJDS: Live In Tijuana

Reminiscent of the now-antiquated bootleg recordings of live shows recorded to cassette tape, the quality of DJDS' "Live In Tijuana" set only seems to add to it's charm.

"Earlier in July we drove down to Tijuana to play a free show at a small club called Wherehouse. Around 3am we played out on the club's open air dance floor for a crowd of what felt like all friends. It was warm and people danced."

8. Seb Wildblood: Coastal Cast

As the label boss of South London imprint Church, Seb Wildblood shows off his chops (and some forthcoming cuts) on a mix for Coastal Haze that's lovely jubbly; especially if streamed coastside.

Something for the sunchasers and track ID chasers alike.

9. Sassy J: "Summer Squeeze" Guestmix for Pender Street Steppers BCR Residency

Bringing the sunshine to Pender Street Steppers' show for Berlin Community Radio, this mix from Swiss miss Sassy J is right up our street.

Opening with the sound of ice cubes colliding with glass, the mix goes on to include a blend of gentle guitars, lowkey hip-hop heaters, jammed R&B, sun-drenched disco, and the all-important vinyl crackle.

10. Mista Selecta: FADER Mix

When questioned on what he imagined people doing while listening to his mix for Fader Magazine, Washington DC's Mista Selecta said that it should serve as a welcome distraction to anyone listening and (ironically?) it gets the job done, dishing out some delicious club productions along the way.

"I imagine girls cleaning their house on a Sunday morning, breaking out into a dance session and actually getting nothing cleaned. I imagine people riding in their car and having to pull over to bust a move. I just picture overall good times."

11. Pablo Grossi: ASTROCAST53

"Argentinian grandmaster-level vinyl digger and selector" Pablo Grossi recently agreed to record a mix for Astro Nautico, and the result sounds like it could just as easily be the score for a forthcoming Tarantino movie.

Superb selection if your plan for the afternoon was to sit back, smoke a cigar, and plot dastardly deeds as the the sun continues to shine.
