Yung Lean Enlists Uli K and Mechatok for "Schemin"

Yung Lean joins forces with London-based collective Bala Club for the ethereal "Schemin."

Yung Lean is keeping himself remarkably busy, sharing his second collaboration with Bala Club mainstay Uli K. Taken from Bala Club’s forthcoming compilation Bala Comp Vol. 1, “Schemin” features Lean returning to his ethereal, pulsating roots. With its colorful instrumental provided by Berlin-based producer Mechatok, “Schemin” recalls the early days of Leandoer’s musical career, sounding endearingly DIY in the way that drew everyone to his music in the first place.

Accompanied by a frosty video, which was directed by Ecco2k and edited by Bladee, the visuals for “Schemin” feature Lean and Uli K rapping out in the lo-fi wilderness. Bala Club told Dazed that the upcoming compilation “Schemin” is taken from is “the first look into what people can expect from Bala Club.” Bala Club is a collective and club night in London, tending to put on nights no one else would even dare to.

Yung Lean was reportedly arrested earlier this week, but he’s since confirmed that he’s fine following the incident. Lean is set to go on tour tomorrow (June 3) with a date in Copenhagen, followed by a series of dates in North America.

Check out the video for “Schemin” above, and listen to Uli K and Yung Lean’s previous collaboration, “Drifting,” below. Bala Comp Vol. 1 is out June 9.
