32 years ago this week, Madonna earned her first Top 10 hit with “Borderline.” With The Roots by her side, she performed a stripped-down rendition of the 1984 single on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon last night.
The song took on new life through a slowed down version that should appeal to Madonna fanatics as well as those who may have been historically turned off by her glossy pop aesthetic. It’s always worth tuning in whenever anyone gets on stage with Questlove and The Roots. At this point, is there anything those guys can’t do? Keep in mind this happened on the same night they “slow jammed the news” with President Obama. Amazing.
