Back in 2014, a new artist by the name of Knox Brown blew us away with his debut single “Harry’s Code.” It was a deeply soulful, reggae-influenced song from an artist who, we learned, had already been writing and producing for the likes of Jay Z, Mary J Blige, and Aloe Blacc. Over two years later, Knox Brown is back with new music, and news of a new EP, titled Searching.

The six track EP features American singers Anderson .Paak and BJ The Chicago Kid alongside British rapper Kojey Radical. “I am a huge fan of Anderson .Paak
,” Knox tells us. “Way before Dr. Dre put out the Compton album
I saw a video of him and Knxwledge performing “Suede”
and I was instantly blown away! His flows and melodies are so sick and his tone was crazy to me!
So I got on the phone to Richie [Richard Antwi, Knox’s manager who sadly passed away unexpectedly a few months ago] and asked if he could connect the dots, which he did.”

“I’v been a fan of BJ The Chicago Kid since the Pineapple Now-Laters album,” Knox continues. “When he did ‘His Pain’ with Kendrick back in 2012  I was sold. His voice is CRAZY! Then Kojey is mad talented and, in my eyes, unmatchable at what he does.
His dynamic, sometimes animated tone, paired with sick flows was exactly what I needed for this EP.
Every time I listen to this guy my mind travels on a journey through what he’s saying and his choice of words and inflections are crazy!”

Since we last heard from him, Knox has been working with other artists and crafting his own album, but we’re just happy to have him back and mining classic sounds and styles to make powerful modern music. The Searching EP is out August 5, listen to “No Slaves” below.
