New York City-based Francis and the Lights, or more specifically Francis Farewell Starlite, reappeared last week with an appearance on Chance the Rapper’s new album, Coloring Book. After disappearing for a number of years after a huge 2010 touring with the likes of La Roux, Drake, and MGMT, Francis mostly quiet. Besides an EP in 2013 and writing credits on Donnie Trumpet & The Social Experiment’s Surf last year, it’s been a while since we’ve heard from him.

Now he’s back with his first solo song in over three years with “Thank You,” which he uploaded to SoundCloud. Thanks to Chance the Rapper, who tweeted out the song, we’ve been made aware of a lovely, but short new track from Francis. No word on whether this is a one off or a preview of something bigger to come, but it’s nice to hear more from Francis regardless.

“Thank You” was recorded in Justin Vernon of Bon Iver’s living room, with Vernon tweeting, “This man. I can’t say enough words. Recorded right in my living room. I cried then. I love you Fran.” The track was also recorded on nothing more than a phone, as if it weren’t already impressive enough.

Listen to “Thank You” below.
