Founding A Tribe Called Quest member Jarobi White posted a Facebook status on March 26 asking for fans to help him get a Queens park named after his late bandmate, Phife Dawg, who passed away March 23. Calling for Sayres Ave from 180st to Merrick Blvd to be renamed Malik “Phife Dawg” Taylor Ave and for St. Albans parks to be renamed to “Malik ‘Phife Dawg’ Taylor park (aka Tha Phiferdome),” fans have showed support by starting a petition to achieve the latter.
Launching with a goal of 1000 supporters, Noelle Ross’ petition to rename St. Albans Park has already reached its initial goal. The goal has since been doubled, but with the rate people are signing the petition in honor of Phife, it looks like it’ll reach it sooner rather than later.
