Four Tet made the most of his three hour show on BBC Radio One last night. Filling in for Benji B, he opened the vault and let loose a bunch of unreleased material, including new songs from Lil Silva, Joy Orbison, Pearson Sound, Champion, and himself.
The highlight was a new track called “Rings in the Coffee” from Sam Herring (of Future Islands) and Madlib’s collaborative project, Trouble Knows Me. An unusual pairing when they first announced it, the duo have slipped into a really nice groove together. “Rings in the Coffee” is no different. Herring’s surprisingly awesome gruff flow blends perfectly with classic mellowed-out production from Madlib.
