Will Smith stopped by BBC’s 1xtra for an interview, and during the interview he spoke at length about parenting. He explained what it was like raising kids as creative as his own, and how he and his wife Jada Pinkett Smith encouraged their children to be as bold and creative as they are. “I think it might have been a mistake, we may have gone too far, he joked about Jaden,” in particular. Jaden Smith has constantly made headlines over the past few years for some bold creative moves, philosophical rants, and some legitimately great tracks.
Commenting on some of Jaden’s recent moves, including the recent Louis Vuitton womenswear campaign, Will said that as a parent he’s also pushed his children to be fearless. “You have to be comfortable doing things that you could fail. Jaden is 100 percent fearless, he will do anything. As a parent it’s scary, it’s really terrifying, but he is completely willing to live and die by his artistic decisions and he doesn’t concern himself with what people think.”
He didn’t mention whether he’s pursued making music with Kanye West and Jaden any further, but here’s hoping that Jaden’s bold creative decisions will inspire Will to do the same. Watch the full interview above.
