Sometimes, it takes artists years to find their voice and carve out their lane. Other times, you know right away that an artist has something unique and special. We don’t know much about Seattle singer EMI (pronounced “Emmy”) yet, but “Phantom” was one of the most convincing debuts of the year so far. Some of the credit goes to heavy-hitting producers Rex Kudo (Post Malone, Mac Miller) and Sevn Thomas (Rihanna, Drake, Kanye West) for the excellent backdrop, but EMI’s voice and delivery make that song special, and she does it again on the follow-up “Hit Me.”

“Hit Me” features production from Rex Kudo once again, with assistance from Charlie Handsome and Frank Dukes. The track maintains a moody, low-key vibe, but EMI’s charismatic flow keeps things entertaining and catchy. Check out “Hit Me” below, and stay tuned—when this song hits 200,000 plays, we’ll get another one from EMI.
