Com Truise is bringing more of his nostalgia-tinted electronic magic to your ears (and also to your town, via an extensive tour that starts tonight) with the Silicon Tare EP, his third EP on Ghostly International. Seth Haley, the man behind Com Truise, is a self-proclaimed synth obsessive, and he lets loose on “Diffraction,” the first single from his new EP.
The upbeat track has more in common with disco and funk than the spaced out psychedelia of some of his past tracks, the percussion hitting hard from the off and never letting up. The Silicon Tare EP, we are told, continues the sci-fi story that began on the Galactic Melt album and continued on the Wave 1 EP.
“Things take a dark turn [on Silicon Tare] as the protagonist, Earth’ s first synthetic astronaut, successfully makes contact with the far-off Wave 1 colony but, once he does, things get fuzzy. He falls in love; there is a war coming. A story that began in hope and dreams of discovery ends on an uncertain note. Change is in the air.”
