Emerging London-based producer recently caught our ear with his addictive “In the Dark,” an understated track that showcases what his sound is about. With “She Wanna,” the latest single to be taken from his TrapDoor debut, Kareful is injecting just a hint more of his surroundings. Brewing a concoction that takes small doses of Burial’s rainy nighttime soundscapes, a dash of , and a healthy amount of trap, “She Wanna” sees Kareful revealing more of his impressive arsenal.
Taken from his upcoming album Deluge, which is due out on January 22 via TrapDoor, “She Wanna” shows a darker side of the rising producer. Featuring all of the elements that made his previous output special, the track puts more of a menacing spin on what we’ve already heard from him. The ethereal samples take just as big a role without dominating the track, while the sharp synth melodies command attention with their distinct “That’s Not Me”-on-lean quality. There are a lot of words that could be used to describe the overall quality of the track, but none sum it up better than the word hypnotic.
