Jack White has had a long musical journey. Long before The Dead Weather, his solo career, The White Stripes, and founding his own independent record label, young “Jackson White” was hitting the stage with his band Two Star Tabernacle. Eighteen years later, White has decided to release some of the band’s live sets through his label Third Man Records.
White shared audio from a performance of “Itchy” with Rolling Stone. The audio is taken from a live set Two Star Tabernacle performed at Detroit’s Gold Dollar in January 1998. “Itchy” is a high-energy track written by White that features a classic blend of blues and ragged rock and roll—a sound that would later evolve into The White Stripes.
Aside from “Itchy,” Third Man Records is also releasing a few other early recordings from various Detroit bands Jack White was involved with. The records will be included in the label’s Vault series, which is only available to subscribers.
