Lee “Scratch” Perry, legendary reggae producer and dub pioneer, shared some unfortunate news yesterday. His studio, otherwise known as his “Secret Laboratory” in Switzerland, went up in flames last night. According to Perry, he lost his whole life collection of the vibrant costumes he has become known for, as well as a hefty amount of recordings. The fire was set by a candle that Perry admitted he forgot he left burning.
During this rough time, Perry has asked his “angels that always give me perfect things” to privately contact him if they plan to send anything. He would like the chance to thank each generous fan personally.
Perry shared the upsetting news on his Facebook page with the following message:
