Chance The Rapper is Raising $100,000 to Give 1,000 Winter Coats to Chicago's Homeless

Chance is asking fans to help donate to this good cause.

After a brilliant performance on Saturday Night Live last weekend, Chance The Rapper is back home in Chicago, but not done working just yet. Chance recently stopped by the local radio show Chicago Morning Takeover to discuss SNL, his recent Family Matters tour, being a new dad, and his latest plans.

During the show, Chance announced his latest endeavor simply called Warmest Winter. He explained his plans for this initiative is to raise $100,000 in order to give 1000 coats to Chicago’s homeless community, and those in need. Going into further detail (around 15:30 mark), these warm winter coats expand to function as sleeping bags overnight. He explained that roughly 20% of Chicago’s public school students are homeless, and his goal is help keep them warm this season.

Chance hopes to meet the goal by January 6. If you’d like to help out, you can make a donation to the cause right here.

UPDATE (12/25 11:24 p.m.): Tonight, Chance took to Twitter to announce strong strides toward his aforementioned fundraising goal for Warmest Winter.

With just shy of two weeks left until January 6, donators have managed to eclipse nearly 60 percent of the $100,000 benchmark—great news to report on Christmas. The link to contribute to Warmest Winter can be found above.
