1.

2. Jungle: Solid Steel Radio Mix

Welcome to the Jungle, they've got fun, games, and a good selection of tracks on hand, outside their own as a band. We're betting you missed their intimate loft show around the time this mix was aired and shared on Ninja Tune's Solid Steel radio show, but it's not enough to cause you any bother if you've already hit play. Expect marvellous music from Flying Lotus, Floating Points, Marvin Gaye, and other people we always love to hear from.

3. DJ Riz, Eclipse, Fat Joe & Big Pun: The Stretch & Bobbito Show on 89.9 WKCR (August 31, 1995)

As to why we're including a radio show from the '90s in our list of Best New Mixes, we'll let Eclipse do the explaining, considering he was the one who re-shared a session from the famous Stretch & Bobbito radio show on Mixcloud earlier this week, which happened to mark the birthday of the late Big Pun.

"I always recorded my guest sets on KCR so I couldn’t for the life of me understand why I wouldn’t have the one Riz and I did when Fat Joe brought up Big Pun for the first time (along w/Armageddon & Keith Nut). Come to find out I forgot to label the tapes with the date. Anyway, seems only fitting to post this today on Pun’s birthday. Joe starts the interview (151:40) and plays some joints off his album before introducing everyone to the mic (167:42). I threw on “Broken Language” and Pun set it all off. Other dope moments were the Pumpkinhead, Natural Elements and O.C./Poops promos that Bob started off the night with before Riz got on (10:20) and showed off (see Nas Remix). Bobbito plays a demo set in the middle of the show (113:15) before Terror Squad arrives and then I close it out (179:22). And what would a Stretch & Bobbito show be without comedy from Lord Sear (228:30) For more insight on this Pun appearance check out the movie “Stretch & Bobbito: Radio That Changed Lives”.

A mix and a legit movie selection? Good deal.

4. Romare: Rough Autumn Mix

Each of Romare's releases seems to be a meticulously considered effort, and each new mix he drops is absolutely no different.

"One-take. All records except first song" reads the brief introduction to the latest mix from the Ninja Tune signee, which features a club-facing collection of tracks from people you probably don't know about, but will be all the happier to get acquainted with over the next hour.

5. Pictureplane: Fader Mix

"This is mix is predominantly rap music made in Memphis, Tennessee in the mid-to-late '90s", says Pictureplane of his contribution to the cannon of fantastic Fader mixes.

"Pretty much all of these songs are ripped from cassette tapes. I love collecting this specific type of rap music and wanted to share some of my favorite songs in my collection. I am really attracted to the lo-fi quality of the recordings and how unique and revolutionary the horror/gothic and satanic imagery and triplicate style of rapping was at the time in Memphis. A style that was basically 20 years ahead of its time. I sort of equate that scene in Memphis to the Norwegian black metal scene in the early '90s. The music is just cryptic, dark, and brutal. And anti-Christian. It's extreme. I imagine people hanging out with their friends and smoking weed to this music."

And so, we ask, got a light?

6. Ta-ku: Mix for Raised by Wolves

Thank you, Ta-ku, for putting together a superb mix, perfect for the sample fiends among us. If you're the type of person who gets a kick from hearing the original samples that provided a foundation for tracks from Tribe, Slum Village, J. Cole, and a jumble of others, then we need to justify your listening to this mix no more. Press play and chill from '93 til.

7. Iglooghost: Into The Blue Guestmix

New boy on the Brainfeeder block is Iglooghost, and he has a mix he'd like you to listen to.

Only 18-years-old according to his Soundcloud bio, the producer known by his parents as Seamus Malliagh seems to be off to a great start in terms of output, evidenced by this mix for Into The Blue, featuring some of the music that he recently put out via Brainfeeder.

8. Nadastrom: Devil's Pie Go-Go Tribute Mix

Known for rowdier music than this set recorded live at Devil's Pie—a party situated in Los Angeles—Nadastrom show they also know how to wind it back a few notches whilst dialling the funk up some, too. Featuring a healthy tracklist including Outkast, Sango, and some Salt-N-Pepa, waste no time in hitting play.

9. Cut Chemist: Funk Off Mega Mix

In a succinct sentence from the New York native, the following is "a mix of French Synth and Drum Machine based music from cassettes and records remixed into a seamless dance party the only way Cut Chemist knows how".

Expect scratching, peripheral vinyl static, and sounds that might slap you upside the skull over the space of about thirty minutes.

10. TeamSESH: Upfront Mix #42 for Boiler Room

Anyone already familiar with the subdued stylings of the TeamSESH squad should know what to expect from the following mix for Boiler Room's Upfront series. Lo-fi, lamentative, and emotional would be three ways to describe what you're about to listen to, but if you've read this far and still have no idea what we're talking about, we'll let the Team's figurehead Bones break it down for you.

"TeamSESH is a group of friends from all over the world bound together by our love for music and the same love for creating it. We are steadily working towards our dreams; as a unit. Thanks to everybody for the support, it is and will always be appreciated. We got so much more coming very soon."
