St. Louis rapper Smino has been in Chicago for the past year, working in Classick Studios. That’s the same studio where Chance The Rapper made Acid Rap, and it’s where Smino and producer Monte Booker have made dozens of songs in the last few months.
Those songs are still being finished as a strategy comes into focus, but today is Smino’s birthday, and it seems like a fitting time for an introduction. Before the dozens of songs get cut down and packaged into a mixtape or album, Smino is dropping three songs in the form of the S!CK S!CK S!CK EP. It’s just a taste of things to come, but it’s an impressive look at his nimble deliveries, sharp tongue, and melodic agility.
