Los Angeles-based duo FRENSHIP defies clean classification. While they’re certainly making pop, they pull from so many different stylistic touchstones and ideas that the end product feels more like a musical thesaurus than a clean shot for current trends (as they joke via email, their latest single was “written by Dr. Luke, Max Martin, Dr. Dre, Sia and Bill Withers.”)
On new release “Nowhere,” FRENSHIP showcases their unique skill set, pairing driving, ’80s-inspired production with soaring melodies and an unusual dual vocal—like Tears For Fears with a touch less darkness. It’s a combination with little parallel in the current landscape, one that will hopefully allow the group to carve its own path. Listen below.
