Grimes has been teasing her long-awaited follow-up to Visions for a while now, and it would appear we’re finally on the cusp of its release. Taking to Twitter to informally announce the record, Grimes’ shared the artwork for the upcoming album, which is titled Art Angels. That’s the striking album art above, which Grimes designed. She also promises that we’ll hear music from the album as soon as next week, and that we’ll also be getting a video for said music, too.

Recently Grimes was interviewed in Q Magazine, and in the article she offered up some vague but interesting information about Art Angels. She said that the album was assisted by her immersion in what she refers to as “bro-art,” which apparently means the music of Bruce Springsteen and Al Pacino gangster movies. “One song on the album, ‘Kill V Maim,’ is written from the perspective of Al Pacino in The Godfather Part II,” she says. Curiously, she added, “Except he’s a vampire who can switch gender and travel through space,” which sounds kind of incredible.

She also spoke about her evolution as an artists, saying, “On Visions I was still in school, mentally. Since then, I’ve wanted to make something strong and aggressive because it’s more reflective of me.” Read the whole interview with Q Magazine here, and check out the Art Angels art above.
