Last night at Global Citizen Festival, held in New York’s Central Park, Eddie Vedder of Pearl Jam brought out Beyoncé to cover Bob Marley & The Wailer’s “Redemption Song.” Footage of Nelson Mandela’s 2005 anti-poverty speech played in the background during the collaboration, making for a powerful performance. Global Citizen Festival is part of the Global Poverty Project, an organization backed by the UN that aims to eliminate extreme poverty by 2030.
