Yesterday, Azealia Banks took to Instagram to share her thoughts on Donald Trump, immigration, “the BIG American problem,” the “reason for the Black Man’s current misfortune,” and more.

Banks’ first post was the most surprising, as she said “Do you think it’s bad that I sort of agree with Trump’s stance on immigration?” She went on to explain why, saying, “Not for any reason other than black American’s still not having been paid reparations for slavery and the influx of INTERNATIONAL immigrants (not just Mexicans) are sucking up state aid and government money, space in schools, quality of life etc??? It’s selfish, but America has been really good at convincing me that everyone else’s problems are more important than my own. I want my fucking money!!! Me First!!! Thoughts?”

Many of her followers were angered and shocked, and Banks quickly claimed the first post was “a social experiment” to encourage people to think about the topic more deeply. In subsequent posts, Banks laid out her views on inequality in America and its root causes, and clarified her Trump comments saying, “you ALL MISSED THE POINT. I am not supporting Trump.”

She ended by explaining her “true feelings,” which can be summed up by her final words: “Self-preservation is key.”
