Last week Beach House teased fans with previews of their new singles that were far too short. Today they share the same two songs, “PPP” and “Beyond Love,” in full. However, rather than simply dropping a link to their new singles, Beach House decided to something more fun and interactive.
Everyone knows that sometimes the best song on the album isn’t always the single, because of that Beach House is allowing fans to choose the single best suited for them. The “single finder” on the band’s official website prompts viewers to choose their top three Beach House songs. By doing so, the site will begin playing a track from their forthcoming album Depression Cherry that closely fits your personal taste.
Beach House explained on their Facebook page why they chose to release their new singles this way:
For us, it’s always a strange moment when a single has to be chosen. No one song ever feels like a perfect representative for a record. This device allows you all to choose the 3 songs you have enjoyed most in the past and have a “single” chosen for you based loosely on what we consider to be musical similarities. Enjoy.
To make things a bit easier, selecting “Wherever You Go,” “Equal Mind,” and “Irene” will introduce you to “PPP.” And if you choose “The Hours,” “Other People,” and “Troublemaker,” that will unlock “Beyond Love.” But don’t stop there, play around with various combinations to see what you get.
