Future's Free Concert In L.A. Was Shut Down By Police In Riot Gear

Future just released his Dirty Sprite 2 last week, and has been busy promoting the new album by embarking on a four day “Salute The Fans” mini-tour. In the past week, the rapper has thrown free shows in Chicago, Atlanta, and New York City and today was supposed to be the final stop in L.A. However, the #FutureHive proved too strong, as fans (some of whom had been lining up since 9am) went wild while the limited 500 wristbands were being passed out. In response, police showed up to the scene in full out riot gear to try and control the crowd. The Roxy cancelled the show a few hours ago, and as of now, no rescheduled date has been released.

UPDATE: After a strong promotional week full of “Salute The Fans” free shows, the sales for Future’s Dirty Sprite 2 are in. He has gained his first Billboard No. 1 album with 147,000 units, with Taylor Swift’s album 1989 still sitting at No. 2.

Future’s album was announced on July 10, just a couple of weeks before its release—long album release cycles truly are dying. Check out more info on this week’s charts on Billboard here.
