Eminem’s involvement with Southpaw goes back to original casting, when Marshall Mathers was in talks to play the film’s bruised boxing lead. Jake Gyllenhall ended up with the role, but Em stayed on to make some music for the film.

Today we get his second contribution, a collaboration with Gwen Stefani called “Kings Never Die.” The song is in line with “Phenomenal,” Eminem’s other feature on the soundtrck: crashing drums, growling electric guitars, and the sharp cutting flow that Em still does so well. Southpaw is out July 24.
