Before you roll your eyes at the seemingly old news of Dr. Dre dropping an album “soon,” let’s first make it clear that this isn’t about Detox so there are greater possibilities here.
During a recent radio interview supporting Straight Outta Compton—the forthcoming biopic about N.W.A.—Ice Cube revealed that Dr. Dre plans to drop an album “inspired” by the movie. When asked if the movie’s soundtrack would include any new songs or just classics, Ice Cube admitted that Dre plans to drop this new inspired album as soon as August 1. Ice Cube also hinted that an N.W.A. reunion tour could be possible be in the near future, but it looks like they’re trying to take all of this one step at a time for now.
