For those not aware, up and coming songstress Mila J is the older sister of Jhené Aiko and she’s been making a name for herself outside of her sister’s shadow. The two have contrasting styles as it is, and one listen to her new single shows that.
Mila travels down a pop friendly path with “FreakNic” alongside Future, and the track is inspired by a Jodeci classic. Those familiar with ’90s R&B will recognize The Show, the After Party, the Hotel single “Freek’n You” right away, considering it made quite the noise back in 1995 and beyond. Of course, Mila and Future give it the modern rendition that makes it fit with current radio norms, while still paying homage to the original.
