We’ve learned that we can always expect intriguing and captivating visuals from Shamir, and his latest video proves no different. What does come off as a little bit different is the song itself. Shamir’s latest single “Darker” from his forthcoming debut album Ratchet is just as the title alludes. The majority of his other songs have been quite bouncy and fun, where this on the other hand is slower and more spiritual.
The video matches the emotion and tempo of the new single. Shamir traded in the vibrant colors and fast-paced visuals for a breathtaking natural setting. Although the video begins off dark and eerie, everything brightens up once he sings these enlightening words of motivation: “It doesn’t get darker, unless you expect it to.”
